Preschool Registration Process
For the 2009/2010 School Year.

Step 2: On-line Process

You will be prompted to provide registration information for your child using an on-screen form.

To begin the on-line registration, select the "Classes and Programs" menu item on the top left of the screen. Then select the program you wish, followed by the location and time. You will now be presented with the registration form where you can enter your child and family contact and personal information.

Please ensure that you register for the class of your first choice but also include your alternate choices (classes fill quickly!).

If you wish to try out the registration process, you can test it out on the FALL 2009 Practice Registration section (available after Monday, Oct 13th).

It is important that your registration form is completed fully. We realize it is tempting to rush the form in order to send it quickly however missing or inaccurate information could make it harder for us to contact you and successfully enrol your child.

Please note that the on-line registration process is NOT a confirmation that you have been enrolled in a class for 2009/2010. It is simply your first official opportunity to express interest in enrollment for next year.

We no longer accept registrations by email - you must use the on-line registration system or the phone.

Required Registration Information

1) Program of interest - 3 year old preschool, 4 year old preschool, kindergarten (at our 24th Ave location only), Ready to Read, Toastminors or Centre Stage.

2) Time period of interest: AM (9:00 - 11:30 am) or PM (12:30 - 3:00 pm) for preschool and kindergarten programs only. All after school programs run from 3:30 - 5:00 pm.

3) Your child's first and last name

4) Parents and/or Guardians name and contact information.

5) Current address and phone number

6) Current email address

7) age of child as of December 31, 2009.

All registrations are marked with the time and date and will be reviewed in the order that they were submitted. For those who register between 10:00 and 10:30 pm on the 1st only, priority of enrollment will be given to families who have previously had children enrolled at Wind and Tide. Following those enrolmments and after 10:30 pm all registrations will be treated strictly on a first come, first served basis.

Step 3: Enrollment or Waitlist Confirmation

We will contact you approximately 4 weeks after the opening registration date to confirm your enrollment (or wait list) placement. If you have been enrolled, that enrollment spot will be held for you until our Open House in the Spring.

Step 4: Set up an Observation (Optional)

Beginning in January, you may set up a time to observe the preschool program at the location where you are enrolled. Please call the specific centre to book an observation date. We suggest you attend a class that corresponds with the age group you will be entering.

Step 5: Open House in April / May

We will call you to set up and Open House date on one of the Saturdays in April or May. At the Open House you can meet the teachers, fill out registration and tuition forms and pay the registration fee and the first months tuition.

What if I can't make the Open House? -- You are welcome to come in and observe prior to your Open House date, however, in order to complete your enrollment and hold your child's space, you must complete all the registration and tuition forms and pay the registration fee and the first months tuition by the Open House date.

Step 6: Summer Start-Up letter - August

In August you will be sent a letter detailing the preschool start-up and welcome information.

Questions and Answers

Is priority given to siblings?

Yes, but ONLY if you register between 10:00 and 10:30 on the 1st. After that, registration priority will be determined strictly on a first come, first served basis. The registration form prompts you for previous enrollment information. When we begin to place the children into their classes, we will place alumni families (who registered between 10:00 - 10:30 pm) first followed by all others in the order of their registration. Please note that registration is open to ALL beginning at 10:00 pm - not just to alumni families.

If I am put on a waitlist, what are my chances?

If you register on the 1st or shortly thereafter, your chances are excellent! So much change will occur between registration and the fall start-up that many families get exactly what they originally requested. We appreciate your patience and will try our best to accomadate your wishes.

If I am put on a waitlist, when will I be notified of space?

Our Registrar will call you as soon as we have space available in a class that you desire. Most three year Old availability occurs after the Open Houses in April and May. Availability for four year old spaces occurs in May when we ask for our current three year old classes if they plan to re-register for the fall four year old program.

From previous experience, if you are willing to wait it out on our waitlist, eventually you will be offerred a space.
